Beginner's Guide & Basics

Everything a new Pilgrammed player needs to know — from controls and movement to your first rebirth and Soul Fragment.

What is Pilgrammed?

Pilgrammed is a souls-like action RPG on Roblox featuring challenging combat, a deep item system, and naval exploration. The April 10, 2026 Wind update overhauled movement, progression, and the entire combat meta. This guide will get you up to speed.

Wind Update Note:

Many older guides are now outdated. This guide reflects the current Wind update (v1.6, April 10, 2026) state of the game.

Controls

  • W A S D — Movement
  • Left Click (M1) — Standard Attack (combo string)
  • Right Click (M2) — Heavy Attack / Block
  • F — Parry (tap at the right moment to counter)
  • Shift — Dash (requires Dash skill from Garth)
  • Space — Jump (enhanced with the Jump skill from Adagio)
  • Q — Technique activation (equipped technique)
  • E — Interact with NPCs, items, doors
  • 1 / 2 / 3 — Weapon hotbar slots
  • Tab — Open inventory / character sheet

Getting Your Mobility Upgrades

In the Wind update, movement skills are permanent upgrades earned through questlines — not temporary consumables. Getting them early dramatically improves your experience.

Step 1: Dash — Talk to Garth (Elite Barracks) Find Garth inside the Elite Barracks. He grants the Dash skill immediately upon speaking with him. The dash provides a horizontal evasion burst governed by a short stamina cooldown. This is your most important early upgrade.
Step 2: Climb — Talk to Mela Mela grants the Climb skill, allowing you to scale environmental surfaces. This bypasses many legacy maze-like pathways and opens up exploration dramatically.
Step 3: Jump Enhancement — Adagio's Quest Talk to Adagio and complete his questline to permanently enhance your vertical jump height and distance.
Step 4 (Advanced): Let's Fly — Empyrean Knight Glider Course Navigate to the isolated Empyrean Knight island and activate the teleporter. Inside the course, use your glider to pass through the white atmospheric orbs along the path. Completing the course rewards you with the Let's Fly passive skill — granting a secondary air jump and extended air dive. This is the pinnacle of Wind update mobility and is required for reaching certain hidden areas.

Basic Combat

Pilgrammed uses a precision-based souls-like combat system. Button mashing will get you killed against most bosses.

Attack Combos

Chaining left-click attacks creates a combo string. Most weapons have a 3-hit base combo. Completing the combo resets your endlag timer, so learning the full string is essential for DPS.

Parrying

Press F at the precise moment an enemy attack is about to connect to trigger a parry. A successful parry briefly staggers the enemy and, if you have the Rally skill, restores a chunk of your HP. Parrying is the primary survival tool for most boss encounters.

Parry Tip:

You do NOT need to hold F. Tap it once when you see the attack connect. Holding it will just block, not parry.

Heavy Attacks

Hold right-click for a heavy attack. Heavy attacks deal more damage, break enemy poise, and some weapons have unique heavy attack animations. The Blood Gem Haunted Scythe's heavy spin attack is core to the Immortal Scythe build.

Dodging

After obtaining the Dash skill from Garth, hold Shift while pressing a direction to dodge. Properly timed dodges grant brief invincibility frames (i-frames). Your Agility stat determines dash distance and i-frame duration.

Understanding Stats

Stat Effect Best For
Strength (STR)Increases melee weapon damageHeavy melee, Scythe builds
Dexterity (DEX)Increases ranged damage & melee swing speed (+X% per point)Daggers, bows, rapiers
Intellect (INT)Increases magic damage and mana poolCatatome, magic builds
Defense (DEF)Reduces incoming damage (diminishing returns)Tank builds
Agility (AGI)Movement speed, dash distance, i-frame durationHit-and-run, glass cannon

Early Game Progression

Follow this priority order as a new player:

  1. Complete the tutorial area and reach the first main town
  2. Talk to Garth in the Elite Barracks to get the Dash skill immediately
  3. Get the Climb skill from Mela
  4. Start farming mobs in the Deadly Swamp or Big Bay for XP
  5. Level up and invest stat points into your chosen playstyle (STR for melee, DEX for dex builds)
  6. Defeat your first major boss to begin accumulating equipment
  7. Once you reach the level cap, perform your first Rebirth

Rebirth & Soul Fragments

The Rebirth mechanic resets your character's standard progression in exchange for permanent, account-level enhancements. This is not something to fear — it is the core post-endgame loop.

Soul Fragment Effect:

Each Soul Fragment permanently increases XP gained from all enemies by +50%. You can stack up to 5 fragments simultaneously for a maximum 250% XP rate — making future rebirths dramatically faster.

Soul Fragment Basics

  • Upon rebirthing, you receive 1 Soul Fragment — a turquoise orb
  • Soul Fragments grant +50% XP each (up to 5 stacked)
  • Spend 5 Soul Fragments to gain 1 Soul Level
  • Soul Level cap is 13 (requires 65 total Soul Fragments)
  • Each Soul Level grants +10 HP and +2 Mana permanently
  • The Psychocrab boss does NOT drop Soul Fragments — avoid it for leveling routes

Gold & Economy Basics

Gold is the primary currency for purchasing weapons, reforging gear, and paying vendor costs. The fastest early-game gold route:

  • Farm Jared's fishing milestones — complete 20 challenges to unlock the Rod of Kings
  • Fish at Tailfish Island using Secret Spore bait in High Activity Spots
  • Alga Trout and Salt Eel yield significant gold and trade value
  • Eggroost Observatory Guild rank unlocks reforge discounts via Talvern (up to 75% off at Legend rank)
Warning — Legendary Reforge:

The Legendary reforge modifier was permanently removed in the Wind update. Any purple-tier weapons you had were downgraded. Do not try to obtain a "Legendary reforge" — it no longer exists. The new top reforges are Sharp, Patient, and Cosmic.
